He had never ran so fast before in his life.  Burning pain seared through his entire body as he pushed himself past the limit.  There was no time to stop, and he didn’t intend to.  His friends were in danger, his family was stolen from him.  He needed to get back to the village as soon as possible.  Elizabeta crosses his mind.  She would help him, right?  She had to, he couldn't take care of this problem by himself.  The colorful and structured town soon came into view, but that did not cause him to slow down.  In fact, it only made him run faster.  His throat burned and he was sure that his heavy breathing could be heard from great distances.  But there was absolutely no time to worry about his own physical condition.

The festival was still going on in the middle of town, and people flooded the streets.  He relied on his memory to maneuver through the dancing civilians and make his way towards Elizabeta’s and Roderich’s house.  His vision started to blur from exhaustion, but he managed to reach the door.  With as much strength as he could muster, he pounded on the door desperately.

“Elizabeta!” He gasped

The sound of rushing footsteps could be heard and the door opened soon afterwards.  Elizabeta stood in the doorway with a curious expression, but it was soon replaced with concern as he came into sight and swayed on his feet.  After noticing that he was about to drop to the floor, she held out her arms and supported his small body into her house.  Without a single word, she lead him to her bed and guided him down into a resting position.  He coughed and rasped for air, and after a few moments his breathing inched closer to normal.  Elizabeta looked at him with a serious expression.

“What’s wrong, Emil?” She asked

The young Dragon Hunter didn’t hesitate to respond, “There was an ambush.  They took (f/n) and Tino.”

“And what about the others?”

“They’re unconscious, I couldn’t bring them all here.”

Elizabeta stood back up and called out, “Roderich!!”

The man stuck his head out from behind a wall and soon the rest of his body followed.  Roderich walked into the room and inspected Emil with his delicate purple eyes.  He then turned his attention to the women who called him.  Upon meeting a very angry and troubled face, he realized that a serious event had occurred.

“What happened?” He asked

Elizabeta responded, “It seems that group of Dragon Hunters came back to town.”

Roderich visibly paled, “Impossible.... I thought the others chased them out months ago.”

“Apparently not.  They took (f/n) and Tino, the others were left injured in the forest.  I’m going to retrieve them before the sun sets.”

“You couldn’t possibly save them in that amount of time.”

“I meant Lukas, Berwald, and Mathias.”

Roderich sighed, “I suppose I should come with you.”

“No.”

The man looked up with a shocked expression.  He assumed the possibility that  Elizabeta was joking about him not coming.  After all, it would be impossible for her to carry three bodies back.  And one or more of them might even need medical attention. He was about to protest once more when the sound of the door opening rung through the hallways.  Three pairs of footsteps came into the house and soon approached the room.  Elizabeta was the first to speak up.

“Welcome back, Feliciano, Ludwig.” She greeted

“Is something going on?” Ludwig responded

“Just a problem we were about to resolve.”

Before she could go into any further detail, an exaggerated whine came from the group of three.

“Hello?  You forgot to welcome the awesome me!” Gilbert said

“I didn’t forget, I just chose not to.”

“You’re just an awful women.”

“Bruder!  Don’t say such things.”

“Shut up!”

“I think you all are overreacting.  We should just calm down...”

Emil managed to stand up and inspect the group of strangers.  The first one he noticed was the loud one.  He had shaggy, white hair and red eyes.  It was a physical feature Emil had never seen before.  The other noticeable one was tall, almost as tall as Berwald.  He had neat, blonde hair and his ice blue eyes looked at the loud one with an annoyed expression.  The less noticeable of the three had light brown hair with a strange curl.  He struck Emil as incredibly similar... he reminded him of someone he had met earlier in the trip.  That man was the only one not involved in everyone else’s bickering and he managed to make eye contact with him.  The man tugged on the blondes shirt.  He looked down.

“What is it Feliciano?” He asked

“Who’s that?”

All eyes turned to Emil and he found himself feeling a bit uncomfortable with all of the attention.  But before he was called to speak, Elizabeta saved him.

“Everyone, this is Emil.  Emil, these are the Dragon Hunters I told you about earlier.  Feliciano, Ludwig, and Gilbert.” She explained

“Why is he here?” Ludwig asked

“He is also a Dragon Hunter and is apart of a group that recently came to town.”

“So... where’s everyone else?”

“The group that you guys drove out earlier wiped them out and kidnapped two of the members.”

Gilbert’s eyes widened, “That group?  But we stole all of their equipment.”

Elizabeta shook her head, “Apparently not.”

“Wait, why did they capture two of their members?”

“One of them is like Roderich, the other is a full dragon.”

Silence crept up in the room as the three Dragon Hunters looked back and forth at each other.  The amount of information they were given was small, but that didn’t matter at the moment.  Between the three of them, they were deciding whether or not they should go out and try to find the group.  Elizabeta had already decided and was putting on boots and grabbing medical supplies.  Ludwig was the first to cave and sighed as he too secured all of his supplies, since he hadn't taken them off yet.  Feliciano happily did what Ludwig did, and Gilbert fell in line.  They all silently got prepared to leave for the forest.

“I’ll get ready too.” Roderich stated

Gilbert laughed, “As if!  You’re too weak.”

Elizabeta smacked the man from behind and then turned to the disheveled part Dragon, “You need to stay here in order to help Emil.”

Not only did he protest this, but Emil did as well, “I need to come!”

“No, you’re sick and moving will only cause the poison to course through your veins faster.”

“But I know where they are!  I will need to show you.”

“I’ll find it, I saw you guys take off in a general direction.  Plus, I have these three who track things for a profession.”

With no points to expose and take advantage of, Emil gave in.  The group of four, now fully suited up, headed for the woods.  They left in a hurry and slammed the door behind themselves.  Emil and Roderich were left alone.  The uncomfortable feeling of being left behind lingered with them until Roderich sighed.

“She did it again.” He spoke

“What do you mean?” Emil inquired

“Eliza,” he explained using her informal name, “She always leaves me.”

“This has happened before?”

“She does it constantly.  Given I don’t like to put myself in direct danger, she never allows me to protect her.  It’s always her coming home injured.”

“She seems capable of taking quite a few people down.  Well, you know, from the impression she gives off.”

“That’s because she can.  You don’t want to cross paths with her when she’s angry.  And that’s the reason I now need to get you in bed and resting.”

“I want to wait until I know my brother is safe.”

“I can guarantee you, Elizabeta will bring all of them home.  And tomorrow, she’ll hunt down those who had gone missing.”

“Can I take your word for it?”

“Of course.”

Emil gave in and laid down.  After a few more moments with no words being exchanged, Roderich left.  Emil stared up at the ceiling, his body weighing with fatigue.  After taking a few more moments of remembering how everything started, he fell into a dreamless sleep lulled by the sound of a faint piano.

OoOoO OoOoO

It had been awhile since you felt so cold.  Like a poison leaking into your body, you felt every nerve twinge with ice-like qualities.  You could feel yourself trying to fight it with heat, but for some reason it didn’t work.  The feeling made you want to fall back into complete unconsciousness.  Hopefully this way, you wouldn't feel this torturous cold anymore.  At least, that’s what you wanted to do until you heard whimpering and your name.

“(f/n), p-please w-wake up-p.” A voice trembled

You slowly fought the feeling of falling into eternal sleep and opened your eyes.  Everything your vision caught was grey.  Grey walls, bricks, floors, and jail bars.  A flash of purple brought you to your senses.  The whimpering from earlier had come from Tino, parts of his skin was unnaturally blue and his face was flushed.  You moved your hand up and he flinched.

“Oh, good!” He smiled, “You’re awake.  I was pretty worried since there’s blood on your forehead.”

You instinctively raised your hand and wiped some of the red substance from your face.  Tino grabbed your arm and slowly helped raise you to a sitting position.  His skin was cool to the touch.  The fact that you were able to recognize that scared you.

“What’s going on?” You asked

“We were captured, remember?  Now we’re in some sort of cell, but I’m not sure about where or who brought us here.”

“Yeah, I remember.  And before we worry about all that stuff, let me check on you.”

“What do you mean?”

“You’re freezing.”

You moved your hands to take off your jacket and wrap it around your cold friend, but realized that you were no longer wearing it.  Instead, a blood covered dress laid across your skin.  The first thing that came to mind was Elizabeta.  Her dress was completely ruined, and you felt terrible.  Although this was the first thought, the second one completely expelled all other troubles.  You looked at Tino with worry in your eyes.

“After I was knocked unconscious, did anything else happen?” You asked

“No, I was hit shortly afterwards.” Was his reply

Your chest felt heavy as you weighed what had happened.  You knew that Mathias was okay, or at least the arrow wound was no longer a problem.  You were confident in your abilities and knew that you had healed it correctly.  Lukas on the other hand... the thought of it terrified you.

“Why?” You asked out loud despite your wish to keep it in your head.

Tino looked at you with a confused expression, “What do you mean?”

“Lukas... he took a blow to the head.  I thought he didn't care anymore.”

“What?  Of course he cared, he was just wary afterwards.  You know his backstory, right?”

You nodded.

“See?” He continued, “It was just a matter of the past. I’m sure that he’s gotten over it.  Not to mention, he's just a naturally cold person”

You fiddled around with the scale that hung around your neck.  It was still dull and lifeless, you found no comfort in it anymore.  But looking at it did bring back memories.  Back to when you still hadn’t been aware that you were a Dragon, back when you met Mei and Kiku.  And even back to Hercules and Sadik.  Upon reminiscing, you realized how much you had grown.  You were no longer that girl that woke up without a family or a memory.  You were a Dragon with great friends and a family to go home to.  You had people to protect and a reason to fight.

“Tino, we’ll get out of here.” You stated with confidence.

He gave a weak smile, “You know, I admire you.”

Your heart skipped a beat, “What do you mean?”

“I know that you used your blood for medicine back at the cabin, even though I told you not to.”

“Oh-”

“Shh... let me finish.  I thought it was the wrong thing to do, in fact I’m still a bit angry.  But you acted on what you thought was right, and according to what was best for Emil.  It was courageous of you.”

“I admire you too.” You responded, dropping the subject of medicine, “You hold the group together, despite how different you are.  You’re part Dragon, and yet, that difference doesn’t make you upset and drive the group apart.  Your happy attitude actually brings it together.  I’ve never seen fights end so quickly, and trust me, I’ve been alive for a long time.”

“A long time?”

“A very long time.”

He sighed, “And so, will you die like that Dragon from earlier?”

“I-I don’t know.  I thought about it, and I don’t know.”

“Don’t trouble yourself.”

You nodded.  You hadn’t realized that during your conversation, you and Tino had closed the distance between you and huddled together for warmth.  His shivering was still present, but there wasn't as much as there had been prior.  With a small yet sad smile, you spoke of one thing you truly believed.

“We’ll get out of this.”

But before your hope could materialize, the sound of a heavy door slamming opened echoed through the cell.  The shadow of a man crept in front of the bars that kept you captive.  You moved even closer to Tino and prepared yourself.
When stated that 'you' had grown a lot, I was also mentioning the story.  I look back now at the earlier chapters and I am just shocked.  Most of it is just dialogue, and it's very shallow.  I can definitely tell the difference, and I'm sure you guys can too.
